Job Summary


Reporting to the Associate Program Director, the Employment Facilitator (Jobs In Demand) assists unemployed, or underemployed, individuals to obtain employment opportunities within the community by performing duties such as assisting clients to identify suitable job options, become job ready, locating prospective employers and facilitate employment placements.


Responsibilities and Duties


  1. Assists clients to become job-ready by performing duties such as providing coaching in employment-related areas such as work skills, job search skills, resume preparation, and interview skills and; identifying and arranging education in accordance with employment aspirations.


  1. Assists clients in job search efforts by performing duties such as facilitating a variety of job readiness and job search workshops, assisting in the preparation of resumes and cover letters, and providing support and advocacy.


  1. Collaborates with local employers to evaluate available work experience placements and jobs, matches clients in accordance with client work profiles and abilities, and markets clients to employers to secure work experience placements and employment.


  1. Applies motivational interview techniques to identify client interests, skills, suitability, and job readiness.


  1. Provides supportive employment counselling and behavioral management techniques to assist clients in establishing strategies to seek and obtain employment
  2. Provides job and labour market information and identifies employment barriers.


  1. Provides information regarding available resources, refers to other programs and services as required, and monitors progress in those programs.


  1. Markets supported employment program to prospective candidates and employers through activities such as conducting community presentations, hosting meetings, and responding to inquiries.


  1. Evaluates client eligibility for programs and services.



  1. Liaises with the program funder and other stakeholders regarding relevant client information and to report non-compliance to program plan.


  1. Locates prospective employers in the community appropriate to clients’ work profiles by performing duties such as following up on referrals, making cold calls, networking, and developing partnerships with recruiting bodies and employment programs.


  1. Follows up with employers to ensure work experience placements and employment agreements are established and maintained, and to monitor the quality of placements.


  1. Assists employers to work with clients by performing duties such as providing education and information, and advising on clients’ special needs.


  1. Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as reports on clients' skill levels and progress towards goals and objectives. Reports back to APD regarding metrics and program progress.


  1. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications


  • Two year diploma in Human or Social Service Program
  • Recent, related experience of three years, including experience working with youth with disabilities.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Or other Qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work
