PLASP Child Care Services is an award winning not-for-profit, community organization, providing high quality licensed programs, for children up to 12 years of age since 1975. PLASP operates in more than 210 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 22 early learning and child care centres, providing full day care.

PLASP operates 22 full-day Early Learning and Child Care Centres for children from 6 weeks to 4 years of age.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow Ministry of Education licensed requirements as per the CCEYA
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining a safe, warm and caring environment in which a high quality early learning and child care programs can operate.
  • Staff are required to attend meetings and training sessions
  • Using the HighScope philosophy, lead children through a plan/do/review sequence within an active learning, play based approach
  • Plans small and large group activities using key development indicators from a comprehensive curriculum including areas such as initiative, social relations, language and literacy, math and science and creative representation
  • Observes and interacts with children at their developmental level and supports their initiatives, interests and developing abilities

Qualifications:

  • Registered College of Early Childhood Educator (RECE)
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s mandated pedagogy “How Does Learning Happen?”
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal reference Check, dated within the last six months
  • 5 + years of post-graduate work experience
  • A valid Standard First Aid, with level C CPR
  • Knowledge of the HighScope curriculum an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal English Skills
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Supervisory experience an asset
  • Well-developed problem solving skills
  • Flexible and energetic approach to work
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive and sensitive attitude towards children and staff
  • Physically able to participate with children in centre and outdoors
  • Basic ability to use technology (including smart phones, computers, tablets)
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
