Firth Residence in Abbotsford provides detox and 30 day stabilization for women, and transitional housing and support services for women on their own or with children. Clients receive case management and help developing long-term housing plans and accessing community resources.



Primary Purpose: Transitional housing & programming for women.  Provides safe and supportive short-term housing, daily necessities, crisis intervention, programming and community referrals.

Nature of Work: Located in Abbotsford, Various Shifts

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

To ensure safety and security of residents on a daily basis and provide support and assistance to clients upon entry and during their stay in the shelter. To facilitate women’s access to community resources.

Education and Experience:

  • 4 years university or college or/ combination of diplomas in the field of Social Services
  • Or equivalent education combined with 3 years experience
  • First Aid Occupational Level 1, FoodSafe

Skills and Abilities:

  • 3 years’ experience to include
  • Residential work with a diverse client group
  • Working with women in a related area
  • Sound knowledge of women’s issues
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of mental health and addictions issues
  • Crisis intervention skills or training
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
