Job Summary:

 

The Case Manager will be responsible for supporting unique individuals in the DTES community who are facing significant challenges in life, to obtain meaningful community attachment and employment. You will be utilizing a flexible blend of engagement and discovery strategies to really get to know your clients and to understand their skills, interests, needs, and goals.

This position is a pilot project in partnership with the Lookout Society and the BC Centre for Employment Excellence and will be located at one of the Lookout's residences to provide one on one support to residents transitioning from homelessness.

 

Education, Training, and Experience

  • 2-3 years recent and relevant experience working with multi-barriered individuals, ideally within the DTES community.
  • Knowledge and understanding of effective case management and motivational interview strategies
  • Knowledge and understanding of the local labour market and employment skills development
  • Knowledge and understanding of mental illness and addiction
  • Diploma in Social Services or Psychology
  • An equivalent combination of skill and experience
  • Must have valid BC driver’s license and motor vehicle

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients

  • Knowledge of local labour market
  • Leadership and motivational skills

 

Hours of Work:             36 hours per week
