The Project Lead is responsible for the successful project execution of employer sponsored programs. The Project Lead will work closely with the Industry Relations Manager, internal and external stakeholders, and subject matter experts (SME) to develop, prioritize and execute project plans, ensuring successful delivery of all employer sponsored programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with internal project champions and SME’s build a project charter and plan that defines project objectives, scope, schedule and budget. Include best practices and change management.
  • Operationalize project plans into annual plans and budgets as well as a detailed work-plan (schedule and timing of resources).
  • Accountable for delivering projects on time, within budget and scope.
  • Provide full cycle support for custom training projects; from initial employer interaction to delivery, to follow-up of the project.
  • Manage, communicate and coordinate all resources including internal project staff and any external consultants; ensure that all parties are properly oriented to the project to maximize productivity and consistent plan execution.
  • Collect and create all lessons learned for employer sponsored programs
  • Establish a communications plan and schedule to regularly report to the Leadership Team on progress and share updates with the full organization – at minimum, on a quarterly basis.
  • Draft correspondence, proposals, internal documents and briefing notes for all internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Actively support WBF’s engagement of Indigenous women in exploring, preparing for, and successfully entering Alberta’s trade’s workforce.
  • Maintain impeccable project records, files and documentation.
  • Evaluate projects annually and upon completion; ensure lessons learned are captured with broad input.
  • Build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Act as a single point of contact to the client and project team concerning the project(s).
  • Ability to envision and build new projects and articulate to project team.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Project and change management skills essential.
  • Strong communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation with ability to simplify complex issues and material.
  • Excellent computer abilities – thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, databases, CRM
  • Cross functional leadership abilities
  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.

Education & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in project management and/or mid management role with exposure to multiple functional areas.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute project plans (on time and on budget).
  • Exposure to change management (people side of change) and online learning an asset.
  • Experience leading small teams and or external consultants or contractors preferred.
  • Exposure to constructions and trades is an asset.
  • Degree or Diploma in related field is preferred.
  • Evidence of ongoing learning – project management, change management, IT, social media, online platforms
