What does WJS do? 

WJS contracts with governments across Canada to provide community-based services to children and families, persons with developmental disabilities, and young offenders.  The continuum of services offered by WJS is designed to foster positive life changes and increase self-esteem and confidence.


WJS is one of the only private, national social service agency in Canada. With approximately 125 services delivered across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario through 90 government contracts, WJS Canada earns revenue of more than $34 million annually.  Its 600 dedicated staff serve approximately 1,300 persons across Canada every day, offering individualized programs through a balance of education, training, life skills and culturally appropriate recreation and leisure activities with structured cognitive-behavioural interventions and a high degree of family and community involvement.


The Position and Scheduling:

The project manager’s role is to plan, execute and finalize projects according to quality standards, deadlines and within budgets while maintaining high levels of stakeholder satisfaction. The project manager works closely with senior levels of national and provincial teams to ensure strategic and operational projects are effectively managed within designated resources.


The full-time Project Manager will work 40 hours per week (exact schedule to be negotiated upon hiring), with a primary office within the Lower Mainland.

The successful applicant must possess:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Certificate in Project Management, Degree in Human Services or equivalent combination of educations and experience
  • Five years project management experience
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
  • Reliable, safe vehicle with appropriate insurance

Specifically, the Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Ensures comprehensive written implementation plans as well as quarterly reports are provided to the Chief of Organizational Development and that address i) current analysis and status report on existing contracts, ii) progress reports and/or status of program/project implementation plans, and iii) any other related issues.
  • Develops program/project implementation plans according to schedules.
  • Ensures projects/programs are implemented correctly, to the satisfaction of stakeholders.
  • Resources, oversees, manages and completes project/program implementation plans from beginning to end.
  • Drafts and assists directors/managers with budget proposals, trouble shoots problem areas and recommends subsequent budget changes when necessary.
  • Ensures all projects meet professional licensing and/or other accreditation requirements including legal, regulatory and other requirements.
  • Represents the agency at conferences, meetings, functions as appropriate.
  • Responsible for effective contract management, financial reporting and monitor for BC programs and services.
  • Fosters positive relationships within internal and external communities. Promotes the agency to local and provincial stakeholders.
