Location: Edmonton Salary: $18-24 per hour (20-24 hours per week)

Reports to:  Executive Director

Hours:  20- 24 hours/week

Salary: $18-24 per hour + benefits

 

Responsibilities:

 

Human Resources

  • Develop & maintain policies, handbooks & orientation programs
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, and termination policies and procedures
  • Coordinate employee payroll & benefit plan
  • Maintain personnel records for all staff and volunteers

Bookkeeping         

  • Maintain financial accounting systems (QuickBooks)
  • Process accounts payable/receivables including preparation of cheques
  • Prepare receipts, complete all deposits, reconcile bank accounts & address all banking needs as appropriate
  • Support preparation of reports for funders including casino and gaming funds
  • Regularly review & update management on operating cash flow
  • Liaise with auditors and prepare for annual audit
  • Prepare financial reports as needed

Office Management

  • Organize and coordinate office operations and procedures
  • Manage equipment and supplies procurement and maintenance
  • Liaise with landlord and maintenance staff for operation of ACGA facilities
  • Maintain administrative filing system (online and hard copy) including back ups
  • Work with contractors to ensure IT maintenance is up to date and functional

Board Support and Other

  • Maintain records of Board meetings and contact information
  • Document and file all regulatory requirements for the organization including charity returns, casino, and Society filings/reports
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years working in an administrative finance role
  • Understanding of accrual and deferred accounting in a nonprofit/charity environment
  • Knowledge of CRA regulations related to charitable activities and charity operations
  • Advanced/expert knowledge in using Quickbooks accounting software & MS Office
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Sound judgment, and the ability to proactively identify opportunities and problems and initiate appropriate action
  • Demonstrated adaptability with a willingness to be flexible, versatile and tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency
