We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced team player to fill the part-time position of Social Media Marketing Coordinator. The Social Media Marketing Coordinator will play a crucial role in helping research, plan, coordinate, and execute all social media initiatives for Arts Commons, Arts Commons Presents, and the Calgary International Children’s Festival (CICF). The Social Media Marketing Coordinator will also assist with both digital and traditional Marketing-Communications administration and coordination. Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Social Media Marketing Coordinator provides support to both staff and management teams. Primary responsibilities include:

 

Social Media:

  • Research, develop, implement, and manage all social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, blog) strategies, campaigns, and budgets, for both Arts Commons and CICF
  • Actively post to social media platforms, providing valuable information to our followers, around the arts, Arts Commons, our industry, partnerships, and programming
  • Ensure all content is professional and appropriate, and reflects the Arts Commons brand
  • Develop and track performance metrics on a monthly basis, coordinating with the Digital Marketing Specialist, in order to monitor and measure effectiveness of social media campaigns and to track progress
  • Leverage opportunities when out in the arts community to capture and report through the appropriate social platforms, visual and textual stories to support and raise awareness of Arts Commons
  • Devise social media feedback mechanisms in order to engage and encourage community to get involved in dialog and events, coordinating the execution, collection, and analysis of said feedback
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of all social media platforms and how to optimize content for each channel and coordinate their execution, collection, and analysis
  • Seek out and present opportunities for social media improvements (increased engagement, visitation, followers, usability, etc.) to MarComm team, at weekly status meetings

 

Marketing & Communications:

  • Responsible for coordinating content for digital display marquees, including scheduling, updating and coordinating third party communications
  • Schedule and assist the Creative Manager with updates to window displays
  • Put up posters to promote upcoming shows in allotted spaces throughout Arts Commons, ensuring timely removal and replacement once shows have passed
  • Distribute brochures and magazines into magazine racks throughout Arts Commons and to neighbouring retailers, keeping content current and ensuring information is available and visible for visitors
  • Act as main point of contact for all customer service inquiries on social media channels and through , escalating to the Communications and Media Specialist for appropriate response
  • Upload Arts Commons Presents and CICF programming into non-media listings services, such as visitcalgary.com, calgaryculture.com, and calgarydowntown.com
  • Planning of, and attendance at, Arts Commons Presents and CICF tradeshows, concerts, shows, and festivals, developing our audience and communicating our offering
  • Contest management – planning and executing a variety of contests, communicating with the winners, and posting winner photos and captions on social media
  • Provide relief to reception, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Applicants should be pursuing or have a degree or diploma in Marketing or Communications, or a related field. Other desired skills and qualifications include:

  • A passion for the arts
  • Advanced knowledge of all social media platforms, including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube
  • Proficient in MS Office and Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Sharepoint)
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills
  • Excellent time-management skills, detail-oriented, and is able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work at a high level, both independently and in a team environment
  • Experience and comfort with an SLR camera (photo and video) would be considered an asset

 

This position is based on a 25-hour Monday – Friday work week (5 hours a day), with occasional evening and weekend work required. A competitive compensation package, including extended health benefits, is offered.
