Canada has the highest rate of multiple sclerosis in the world, making MS Canada’s disease. The MS Society of Canada is the country’s leading MS advocate, funding leading research in MS and programs & services that help people live well with the disease.

 

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Digital Strategy, Marketing and Communications, the coordinator is responsible for leading the deployment of the MS Society’s content strategies with a special focus on revenue-generating initiatives and research impact. The coordinator will lead the translation of data for the content team, for integration into revenue-generating content streams such as MS Walk, MS Bike, I Challenge MS, donor engagement, direct marketing, digital marketing, etc. and will work with various members of the organization to gather data related to the performance of MS Society digital initiatives - enabling the content team to make data-driven decisions on content for social media and e-marketing, including paid digital ads and e-communications. The coordinator will also lead the development and implementation of nationwide content and influencer strategies related to MS Walk and MS Bike.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development and deployment of content strategy and plans for revenue-generating initiatives such as MS Walk, MS Bike, I Challenge, endMS Whatever It Takes capital campaign, etc.
  • Writes and develops content for social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other appropriate social media channels such as the blog.
  • Develop and deploy responsive and just-in-time social media sprints related to special campaigns and relevant global days/celebrations (Canada Day, International Women’s Day, Giving Tuesday, etc.) .
  • Leads the deployment of research impact content as applicable to revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Works as a part of the content team to determine and develop content for various marketing and communications projects.
  • Provides coordination and logistics support to content development team.
  • Develops and deploys the MS Society’s research content strategy across channels and audiences
  • Acts as a collaborator and co-editor of MS Research publication
  • Develops creative briefs, storyboards and scripts for the MS Society’s research content/mutimedia projects.
  • Generates and curates research content and impact stories; and interviews people affected by MS, donors, researchers, other stakeholders to create content for print and digital media.
  • Applies data analysis industry standards to content development initiatives for revenue-generating initiatives, and identifies new opportunities for the MS Society to generate revenue through content development
  • Tracks and reports on revenue-focused data, including conversions, ad performance, clickthroughs, etc.
  • Measures benchmarks for social media performance; analyzes performance of social media campaigns or projects with KPIs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborates with the marketing and communications team to identify appropriate methodologies and channels for deploying content
  • Monitors external data analysis methods and applies to MS Society brand and practices when appropriate
  • Work with digital direct response and creative vendors, including creative development of paid digital and social content
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or community college diploma with at least 3 years of experience in communications, social media content management, marketing and media and public relations, or the equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in writing and adapting content for social media and online platforms
  • Excellent ability in listening, written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with internal and external constituents by telephone and face-to-face
  • Ability to apply analytical thinking to the creative process
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Detail and process oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Interest in learning new skills, expanding knowledge into new areas
  • Ability to work independently with deadlines, multiple projects, problem solving
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook

 

Special Considerations:

  • Occasional weekend or evening work
