PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS

 

As part of the Access Innovation Program (PAI), all of Oxfam’s partners in the country of assignment will receive support in the area of fundraising. These include RWDS, PWWSD, Asala, Dalia, YWCA, EJ-YMCA and TCC.

 

 

CONTEXT OF THE POSITION 

 

The PAI is funded by the Canadian Government through Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and is implemented by Oxfam-Québec in 11 countries. The central approach of the program is based on the assignment of Canadian (or Canadian permanent resident) Technical Advisors in countries of intervention, in which their mandates are to increase the technical, administrative and financial capabilities of local partner organizations. Support provided should enable partners to innovate and generate sustainable changes in their environments in terms of economic growth, food security, gender equality, good governance and environmental sustainability. The program furthermore focuses on the development of models and innovative intervention approaches through a process supported by a network of Canadian partners, composed of recognized civil society organizations, research institutes as well as socially-responsible private companies.

 

 

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION 

Under the responsibility of the PAI coordinator in the country of intervention, and in close collaboration with Oxfam colleagues (country, region and Oxfam Québec headquarters), the Fundraising Advisor performs his/her mandate to ensure the achievement of PAI results and support the partners in his/her field of expertise.

 

In accordance with the policies, standards and procedures of Oxfam, the Fundraising Advisor undertakes the following responsibilities:

 

INNOVATION AND CAPACITY BUILDING

 

  • Strengthen partner capacity in relation to fundraising, donor contract management and program development ;

 

  • Assess and support partners in the development of fundraising strategies;

 

  • Strengthen partner capacity in Results-based management, including the development of proposals and best practices in reporting;

 

  • Support partners in ensuring compliance with donor requirements;

 

  • Support partners in mapping funding opportunities and securing funds from a diverse range of sources;

 

  • Propose and coach partners in the use of innovative approaches to fundraising (peer-to-peer fundraising, crowdfunding, income-generating projects, etc);

 

  • Work with the funding team in designing and implementing capacity assessments and formal and informal training for program teams on planning, securing and managing funds.

 

EXPERTISE

 

  • Take ownership of Oxfam’s quality standards with regards to fundraising;

 

  • Participate in funding development in order to scale up projects piloted through the Innovation Development fund with local partners ;

 

  • Keep abreast of the latest funding opportunities as well as any changes in local legislation;

 

  • Provide support to the Oxfam funding team for project development and compliance with donors.

 

 

MONITORING, EVALUATION, ACCOUNTABILITY AND LEARNING (MEAL)

 

  • Contribute to documenting and disseminating the learnings and innovations developed by Oxfam and its partners (approaches, lessons learned, best practices) in the field of funding;

 

  • Take part in a periodic evaluation of the results achieved in terms of developing partners’ capacities.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

STATUS : 

  • Be a Canadian citizen or have Canadian permanent resident status

 

EDUCATION : 

  • University degree in a related field such as international development, project management, finance, business, public administration.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE : 

  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in funding and fundraising, ideally in the Middle East and North Africa region, working in a multidisciplinary team. International development work experience (an asset).

 

WORK EXPERIENCE ABROAD AND IN THE COUNTRY : 

  • Experience working in OPT (an asset)                     

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS FOR THIS POSITION : 

  • Good understanding of Result Based Management (RBM) and Project Cycle Management in development contexts
  • Knowledge of donor requirements
  • Good administrative and financial skills
  • Ability to manage her/his time effectively
  • Willing and able to adapt priorities in order to respond to changing demands
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, autonomous and able to take initiative
  • Highly developed interpersonal, influencing and relationship skills.
  • Experience in training design and delivery

 

DATA PROCESSING :

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and Skype

 

LANGUAGE (S) OF WORK : 

  • English and French spoken and written
  • Arabic desirable

CONDITIONS : 

This is a volunteer position. All monetary compensations are paid in Canada and are not subject to taxation. 

 

  • Monthly allowance based on the cost of living in the country of assignment; 2734 $ CAD. First month of contract, allowance is 4205 $ CAD to cover installation expenses;
  • Travel insurance, life and disability insurance;
  • Amount for housing: 1300 $ CAD monthly;
  • Round trip flight.
