Addictions Residential Support Worker

Full time, and On-call Auxillary

Location: Scheduled placements in Surrey, Abbotsford, Chilliwack

 

EFry operates a continuum of addictions care that includes: detox, structured support and stabilization recovery, to intensive treatment. Our programs are located in the Fraser Valley in Surrey, Abbotsford and Chilliwack. We are the largest provider of women’s addictions beds for Fraser Health in the region. Our services are designed for women who are abstinence seeking and delivered through a compassion based approach that recognizes addictions is a chronic recurring problem the lives of most clients.

 

 

Primary Purpose: We seek to hire two unique individuals willing to work as full time staff through placement across EFry’s addictions programs. A valid driver’s license is a must, we have the company vehicle. This is an opportunity to work with women from low to moderate to severe addictions needs and experience a cross section of approaches inclusive of Stephanie Covington’s curriculum and gender specific resources. You will provide coverage for staff scheduled vacations etc and have the opportunity to master different skills and client approaches with the support of other online staff. Your role will be to ensure the needs of vulnerable women are met with qualified informed staff while working within an informed addictions team approach.

 

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

Carry out the duties and responsibilities of an addictions residential support worker across the spectrum of EFry addiction service and to maintain grace and humility in the face of change for yourself and clients who are not always sure what to expect of a new face. You will support women to carry out and implement designed case plans and as needed step into the role of a key worker and develop a case plan with a woman or facilitate a group.

 

Education and Experience:

·         Completion of a 4 year post-secondary or/combination of diplomas in the field of social services.

·         At least one year previous work experience in a residential environment is required for this position.

·         Experience working with women with addiction issues.

·         Motivational interviewing and group facilitation skills

·         WCB Level One First Aid, Food Safe Certificate

 

Skills and Abilities:

·         Knowledge of mental health & alcohol/drug issues

·         Understanding of harm reduction and abstinence seeking with compassion philosophies

·         Ability to manage change
