The KidSafe Project Society’s mission is to provide nurturing safe havens for vulnerable inner-city children when schools are traditionally closed. Founded in 1993, KidSafe supports over 450 children and youth annually by providing them with essential continuance of care services when school is closed. Each weekday of school break, KidSafe provides vulnerable children with nutritious meals, support and supervision from caring adult staff, and developmental activities and field-trips absolutely free of charge. Through the provision of these services, we work toward our vision that all children live in a safe community with the inspiration and support they deserve to become healthy, contributing citizens.

 

KidSafe currently has a full-time opportunity for a Manager of Development and Community Engagement. This position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the development and stewardship of diverse revenue streams and the building of strategic community alliances.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Fundraising:

  • Overseeing the organization’s fundraising strategy; evaluating successes and challenges; recommending and implementing improvements
  • Providing leadership and engaging in all aspects of the donor cycle, from prospecting to cultivation, to solicitation and stewardship
  • Preparing and delivering complex written and verbal funding proposals and reports for diverse audiences
  • Overseeing KidSafe’s signature annual fundraising event, the Golf for KidSafe Tournament
  • Providing leadership to professional volunteers engaged in the fundraising process
  • Developing strategic partnerships
  • Managing relationships with major donors

Marketing & Communications:

  • Creating, editing, and publishing content for a variety of marketing channels
  • Participating in third-party fundraising events; assessing benefits and risks of participation
  • Creating opportunities for community engagement in KidSafe’s work
  • Speaking at events and meetings to raise the profile of the KidSafe Project, articulating the organization’s vision, and case for support

Additional responsibilities:

  • Supervising fundraising staff
  • Creating and monitoring KidSafe’s annual revenue budget and fundraising expense budget
  • Leading Fundraising Committee meetings, in coordination with the volunteer Committee Chair
  • Regularly updating donor database
  • Working cooperatively with the administrative team on gift processing procedures

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in a related field or significant experience and training in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional fundraising experience
  • Experience managing staff and volunteers
  • Excellent budgeting and risk management skills
  • Proven capacity to raise funds, and to engage volunteers and stakeholders in fundraising efforts
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector preferred

This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, with occasional evenings and weekends. An ideal candidate can start asap, however the posting will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
