TITLE: Program Manager - Developmental Services

POSITION STATUS: Full Time – Permanent

REPORTS TO: Director of Programs

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (BRCCED) is a provincial leader in the Deaf community. Currently we are seeking a dynamic leader for one of our Residential Programs located in Milton. Our Residential Program supports Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deafblind adults some of whom have complex behavioural, developmental and/or mental health diagnoses. This position is responsible for the ongoing management, service delivery and program development. All our programs focus on providing the very best growth opportunities for the people we support and if you have a passion for program development, staff mentoring and leading teams through change you’ll fit right in!

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

    Lead, coordinate and align your team with agency mission, vision, values, strategic direction and policies with a goal of ensuring the best, clinically informed, programming opportunities for the people we support

 Assuring consistent compliance by the teams of all Ministry regulations

 Provide employee development and coaching

 Demonstrate a strong programming expertise with excellent outcomes for the people we support, and

 Provide leadership in program evaluation and development

 Develop, implement and evaluate individual programs according to the Individual’s needs, goals, strengths and cultural and linguistic values

 Collaborate with other community partners to maximize opportunities for growth for all members of the BRCCED community both locally and provincially

 Prepare reports/conduct special studies, make presentations

 Advocate on behalf of the Agency clients and their families

 Ensure the teams are applying appropriate behavioural management approaches at all times

 Provide input into business decisions, service delivery model and developmental opportunities

 Promote an evidence-based, best practice approach to support

 Flexible hours of work

 Provide oversight of implementation, monitoring and review of interventions for those with challenging and/or complex behaviours

 Target identified behaviours and provide support plans to de-escalate and/or replace these behaviours

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelors of Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Child and Youth Counselling or a relevant combination of education and work related experience, with expertise in the area of human relations and communication

 Registered with a provincial College/Association & in good standing

 ASL and understanding of Deaf culture, history and social justice issues facing the community is an asset

 Experience working in Residential Programs supporting people with complex needs.

 Results oriented, adaptable, well organized and able to function independently

 Experience with medication management and oversight

 Strong written and verbal communications

 First Aid/CPR/crisis intervention training in current standing

 Experience working in a residential setting with individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health needs and/or dual diagnosis that includes autism, down syndrome, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorders and complex behaviours

 3 years’ experience leading teams or in a management position

 5 years’ experience in the field of developmental disability or social services

 Hold and maintain a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and access to a vehicle

 Experience providing program oversight with a strong understanding of accountability, continuous quality improvement.

 Experience leading, mentoring and supervising staff, specifically in a unionized environment , is an asset

 Demonstrated experience reviewing and evaluating therapeutic techniques used by staff
