Residential Support Worker – Community Corrections

EFry is looking for a Residential Support Worker for awake overnight graveyard hours. You will provide a warm safe supportive environment for women in transition from prison while assisting with housing, counselling and goal planning to prepare them to successfully re-enter their communities and make the move to independent living.


Primary Purpose:

A community based residence for women who are on conditional release such as parole, probation or bail order. The philosophy is one of self-direction and independence, with individual treatment and goal planning focused on developing a variety of coping skills and self-reliance to promote community reintegration.  This is 24 hour awake supervision.


Key Duties/Accountabilities:

Your primary responsibility is to provide for the safety and well-being of justice involved women within a structured, residential setting inclusive of monitoring release conditions and providing the necessary support to help women make successful prison to community transitions.


Education and Experience:

  • BA in Criminology or other relevant Social Science degree or equivalent education and experience such as a relevant diploma and minimum 2 years of residential experience serving a similar client population.
  • Experience providing supervision and support to criminalized women
  • Occupational Level 1 First Aid
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Valid BC Driver’s License, Clean Driving record
  • Clean Criminal Record Check
  • Ability to maintain Enhanced Federal Reliability Status

Skills and Abilities:

  • Clients may have mental health issues, problematic substance use, acquired brain injury or FASD
  • Must possess the motivational skills required to actively engage clients in ongoing case management
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to link clients to community based services such as addictions treatment, mental health, primary health care, income assistance, employment and life skills training
