East Metro Youth Services, Toronto Lead Agency and a fully accredited Children’s Mental Health Centre serving adolescents and their families in East Toronto for over 40 years, is inviting applications for the following part-time (12 hours per week), one year contract position:


Peer Mentor – Gender-based Violence Program

1 position 12 hours/week for one (1) year contract


The Peer Mentor will draw upon their lived experience to provide harm reduction oriented education and lived experience support to participants of the program. 



  • Perform outreach peer to peer work within the community and provide support pertaining to life skills development and health management.
  • Comfortable in speaking about lived experience as it related to addiction, mental health and sex trade on an individual basis or in a group setting.
  • Co-facilitate workshops on human trafficking, sex work and harm reduction across Ontario with a willingness to travel throughout the province often overnight.
  • Provide immediate peer mentorship for youth, young adults and their families struggling with addiction.
  • Co-facilitate groups for youth involved/at risk of being involved in the sex trade.
  • Openness speaking with the media about your lived experience.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to provide on the spot support.
  • Meet with Clinical Manager for supervision and direction.
  • Perform daily office tasks; maintain records, and other administrative duties as assigned.



  • Lived experienced with drug use/mental health and sex trade work;
  • An awareness of how addiction/mental health and sex work impacts young people;
  • A strong understanding of gender-based violence;
  • Ability to interact positively with peers, partner agencies and the public;
  • Have strong written, communication and organizational skills;
  • A good knowledge of harm reduction and pro sexual health practices;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently;
  • Willing to make a commitment for the full term of the project;
  • Computer skills including Microsoft word, power point, etc.;
  • Preferred candidates will be bilingual in both official languages;
