Job Description: Manager, Company Program

JA’s Company Program offers high school students an experiential business opportunity that takes them on a journey of triumphs, failures, and, ultimately, discovery.   The 18-week program is open to all high school students in grades 9-12 across Central Ontario. Generous corporate partners throughout the community not only provide the funding for the program but also provide the meeting space and most importantly employees from their organizations who act as Advisors for the duration of the program. Under the guidance of the Volunteer Advisors, students create, manage, and liquidate a business in 18 weeks.  They use real money, real products, and have real customers.   Please visit www.jacocompanyprogram.ca for more information. 

 

The Manager, Company Program is a key member of JA Central Ontario’s Programs Team. The portfolio includes responsibility for all aspects of the after-school Company Program portfolio throughout Central Ontario. This includes managing the relationships and experience of parents, volunteers and students engaged in JA Central Ontario after-school Company Programs. In addition, the Manager, Company Program in collaboration with the JA Central Ontario team, coordinates all Company Program student events and recruits student volunteers and presenters for other JA Central Ontario and JA Canada events as required.

 

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Manages a portfolio of 52 existing and new after-school Company Programs to achieve agreed program delivery targets
  • In collaboration with the Program Manager, Secondary School, recruits high school students for after-school programs as required
  • Manages after-school Company Program Volunteers (Advisors) including volunteer recruitment, program training and all other aspects related to their Company Program Volunteer role
  • Identifies outstanding students and manages the Student Ambassador Program
  • Coordinates program, student and volunteer aspects of Student Management Training, Trade Show, Interview Night, VentureON, and other Company Program events
  • Communicates regularly with Company Program Advisors and ensures that all Company Programs are supported and provided with the necessary tools, resources and collateral material
  • Works with the Program Manager, Secondary School, Director, Marketing & Communication, Special Events Manager at JA Central Ontario and JA Canada to coordinate Company Program students for various events throughout the year including the Governors’ Dinner, Charity Golf Tournament, Canadian Business Hall of Fame, Next Generation Leaders Forum, and other events as required
  • Responsible for reviewing, updating and creating new materials to support the volunteer advisors & students for Company Program as required
  • Ensures accurate recording of data for all after-school Company Programs in Salesforce
  • Provides Company Program progress and stewardship reports, and regular program updates to Account Managers
  • Works in collaboration with the Revenue team to identify and onboard new partners
  • Identifies Company Program Volunteers eligible for the Employee Volunteer Grants initiative and communicates with volunteers in collaboration with Revenue team
  • Manages fixed costs and profits tax payments for after-school CP programs
  • Works with the Director, Marketing & Communication and Program Manager, Secondary School to maintain Company Program Website and Social Media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube)
  • Works in collaboration with Director, Marketing & Communication to transition CP students to Alumni Network
  • Coordinates program visits and attends after-hour Company Program and JA Central Ontario events as required
  • Other tasks as assigned

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • University or College education, preferably with a background in business
  • Understanding of entrepreneurship and business with an interest in promoting entrepreneurship/business experiences for youth
  • Experience working with volunteers including volunteer recruitment, stewardship and training
  • Experience facilitating and presenting to large groups of students and volunteers
  • Experience working or volunteering in the non-profit and education sectors
  • Superior discipline, teamwork, time management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to think strategically, plan, execute, multi-task and problem solve
  • Experience in entrepreneurship and event planning would be an asset
  • Fluency in English with excellent written, verbal and online communication skills
  • Technologically proficient (Windows XP, Windows Office Suite, Salesforce)
  • Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle on a regular basis - mileage reimbursement is applicable for travel
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours
  • Must submit a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening check within one month of hire date
