SHELTER ATTENDANTS

NEEDED FOR OVERNIGHT SHIFTS

Casual, On-call until March 31, 2018

 

Extreme Weather Response Shelters

 

Extreme Weather Shelters located in White Rock, Cloverdale and Delta will be in operation until March 31st and will provide a safe, warm place for homeless individuals to spend the night.

 

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working in the Shelter, Attendants will:
    • maintain safety of the site
    • provide First Aid
    • de-escalate crisis
    • providing community resources to clients
    • proving meals as needed
    • accepting clients into the shelter throughout the night
    • doing wellness checks
  • Communicate with Extreme Weather Shelter volunteers at the beginning and end of shifts any necessary information
  • Perform other duties necessary for the enhancement of the program as directed by a Shelter/Outreach Worker or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience

  • Current Level I First Aid certificate required
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training required
  • Naloxone training required (training can be provided)
  • Crisis Line training an asset.

    • Job Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to identify sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be sensitive to and respectful of cultural and lifestyle diversity.
  • Commitment to a problem solving approach.
