Pacific Community Resources Society provides a range of services from Vancouver to Chilliwack, with approximately 40 programs and 270 staff members. Our programs include housing services, youth centres, employment training and skill building, education, and drug and alcohol addictions and prevention programs.


Position Summary:

Pacific Community Resources Society requires a Life Skills/Employability Facilitator/Job Developer for the Baristas Training Program. The successful applicant will be responsible for employment counselling of program participants, organizing and delivering the life and employability skills workshops, supporting participants in their work experience at Starbucks, and promoting the Baristas program within the community.


This position requires a high level of skill as a facilitator; creating, updating and maintaining Power Point slides as well as keeping workshop material relevant and up-to-date. This role requires a sound understanding of employment and life skills facilitation with at-risk youth and multi-barrier populations.


Knowledge of Employment Training Programs and experience working with large not-for-profit organizations is a benefit. Familiarity of Starbucks culture is an advantage, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships within the Starbucks organization. Understanding the process of interviewing and screening potential baristas candidates is an asset.


This position requires certification in the delivery of Personality Dimensions as well as knowledge of Serving It Right. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge on labour market information and creating strong resumes and cover letters. A high degree of emotional intelligence is required, as well as a natural ability to connect with at-risk youth and maintain engagement throughout the program.


Academic and Job Experience Required:

B.A. or degree in a related field; Career Development Practitioner Certificate plus 1 year related experience.



Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal records check including the vulnerable sector
  • Valid first aid certificate
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Use of own vehicle with business insurance(Paid mileage)


Desired Requirements:

  • Safe harbour training
  • Familiarity with employment assessments
  • Motivational interviewing and solution focused counselling
  • Life and employability coaching as well as understanding the impacts of trauma, addictions and family systems
  • Training and experience using database software to maintain accurate participant records
