The Richmond Society for Community Living is a non-profit agency that offers a variety of programs and services for adults and children with developmental disabilities. The Society is currently accepting applications for a:

 

Director of Supported Living

 

The Director oversees the provision of a full continuum of community based residential services for persons with a developmental disability that are consistent with the philosophy and mandate of RSCL. Working with a team of managers, the Director is responsible for the development, organization and monitoring of the provision services and supports within their department. The Director ensures that services and supports are person-centered and comply with all internal and external standards and regulations.   The Director works collaboratively with a senior management team to plan and implement the future direction and changes to the agency.

 

Qualifications:

  • An appropriate degree in social services, human resources, or a related field and/or an appropriate combination of education and experience relevant to the position;
  • Five to seven years of progressively more responsible program management experience in the social service/community living services sectors especially in residential opportunities;
  • Experience in supporting persons that are deaf and blind would be an asset.

  • Knowledge of and experience working within community services.
  • Strong communicator in written, verbal, and nonverbal areas, and respectful team players, and sensitivity to people from diverse cultural, health and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Strong problems solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to build and effective team, manage personnel and performance issues in an effective and progressive manner.
  • Strong planning and program development skills and experience.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with other professionals, family members, and organizations to ensure services are in the client’s best interest and supportive of their goals.
