Location: Dundas Salary: $15.85 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure compliance with mission and values of TSA and with other applicable contract/s or agreements.

Provide direct services to women in a residential setting.

Maintain static and dynamic security of the facility

Perform necessary household duties as required

Ensure that conditions set out by CSC are being adhered to by all residential clients

Attend staff meetings/training as required

Prepare daily documentation and participates in shift exchange

Prepare incident and occurrence reports as necessary

Interact with community partners in a professional manner.

Perform other position related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of Community College Diploma in Social Work or Counselling or equivalent

Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience

Counselling skills

Effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Computer literate

Self-motivated and disciplined

Excellent interpersonal skills

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training

Current CPR/First Aid Certification

Suicide Prevention Training

An understanding of addictions, Mental Health and women's issues related to Corrections/Justice

Valid Ontario “G” class driver's license and a current copy of driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required

Enhanced Reliability Clearance through Public Works Canada is required.  This clearance is to be obtained at time of hire, or can be transferred from a previous place of employment.

Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.

Support for and an understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army 

NOTE: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered

 

This is casual/relief position, and flexibility in scheduling is required.  This is elect-to-work, no guaranteed hours; work will be offered on an as needed basis as per the hours of operation.  Hours of work vary and will predominately include evenings, overnights, weekends, and holiday coverage.
