We are a non-profit organization supporting South Asians with disabilities to achieve their life goals to live an independent life with dignity. We do this by creating awareness, promoting the rights of persons with disabilities and building a support network for individuals and their families.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible to:

  • Provide support to new and existing clients that are dropping in to the office with intakes and referrals, assessments etc.,
  • Oversee and deliver weekly/monthly support groups and workshops including all logistics (refreshments, a/v, room setup/ wrap up etc.,)
  • Conduct outreach (including house visits, community meetings, community events, information sessions/booths, fairs etc.,) to build a new client case load of individuals with disabilities and seniors that are isolated from the broader community.
  • Train and oversee volunteers, student and work placement participants to engage in community outreach and programming activities (as listed above).
  • Other duties as assigned e.g. admin work

Qualifications and Skills

The successful candidate will have the following skills and training:

  • A demonstrated record of working with people with disabilities and seniors
  • Sound knowledge of social service agencies and resources available for seniors and people with disabilities
  • Able to work with diverse people i.e. groups within a multi-faith, multi-cultural, anti-oppressive framework
  • Ability to make analytical decisions around case management and program delivery
  • A demonstrated passion to remove barriers to access for seniors and people with disabilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel around the city to assist with client appointments (with own vehicle)
  • Must have solid organizational skills, strong administrative and computer skills
  • Skilled at preparing, delivering and facilitating workshops and conducting presentations
  • Ability to speak Punjabi, Urdu and/or Hindi

  • Demonstrated commitment to C-SASIL’s mission and values
  • Able to provide flexibility in schedule where required
  • Ability to work some late evenings and weekends
  • Must have your Own Vehicle and a valid G Class Driver's License
