The Supervisor, Applicant Services supervises a team of staff engaged in the daily operation and delivery of the department’s programs and services. The Supervisor provides orientation, directs and motivates staff to reach their highest potential, initiates training and development opportunities, provides advice and guidance regarding staff issues, conducts risk assessments and accident/incident investigations and takes corrective action, conducts performance evaluations and disciplines staff when necessary, develops and implements safe work procedures and ensures that all staff are properly trained on new business and systems processes and comply with procedures and standards, participates on selection panels, and participates in the resolution of grievances. The Supervisor works cooperatively with the Workforce, Quality, and Program teams to effectively achieve these results.




  • College Diploma in Business Administration or related field
  • Additional courses in call centre administration, customer relations, conflict resolution, and supervisory practices preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant and varied work experience including supervisory experience.
  • One year directly related experience in a call centre environment.
  • Experience with call centre software, analyzing call centre statistics, and quality control monitoring would be an asset.
  • Or a suitable combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer.




  • Sound working knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of program administration and customer service excellence.
  • Sound working knowledge and understanding of the Commission’s housing programs, and of government and community agencies and the services they provide.
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise the activities of a team of staff.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, and agreements.
  • Ability to develop presentation material and deliver training or/and information sessions on programs and processes.
  • Good organizational, time management, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, the public, and housing providers.
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgement when dealing with a broad range of partners and clients, including individuals of diverse education and cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Advanced level skill with relevant computer applications.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License. Occasional travel may be required.
