An exciting opportunity exists with Atira Women's Resource Society for a Senior Manager, Accounting. We offer a challenging and rewarding work environment for women passionate about the work of ending violence against women and children. Understanding the dynamics of violence against women and children and the intersectionality of oppressions within a feminist framework and being able to apply this understanding in your day-to-day practice is mandatory.

 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking change agent with strong professional and personal attributes. Candidates in the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) program, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, will be considered.

 

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Preparation and analysis of monthly and annual financial statements and other ad hoc external reports required by funding agreements
  • Creation and maintenance of annual budgets;
  • Variance analysis and reconciliations, including intercompany transactions;
  • Review of transactions to ensure compliance with the Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit, contracts and agreements, as well as internal policies and procedures;
  • Liaise with internal staff and external partners to ensure compliance and maximize contributions;
  • Maintenance of Chart of Accounts and financial reports;
  • Design of processes and documentation to streamline operational procedures;
  • Maintenance of recurring monthly accrual and amortization schedules and month-end journal entries.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite; Experience with Sage 300 software is an asset
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and complete assignments under strict deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Comfortable working independently, as well as collaboratively, in a team environment
