Pacific Autism Family Network (PAFN) is a centre of excellence and network of supports for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families across the province and beyond. The PAFN’s core purpose is to be a Knowledge Centre: bringing together state of the art resources for research, information, learning, assessment, treatment and support; and building capacity to address the lifespan needs of individuals with ASD, and their families across BC. PAFN is dedicated to being a collaborative partner within the disability service community, creating and delivering innovative programming to address employment equity amongst adults with diverse abilities.


About the Ready, Willing and Able Initiative: 

Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) is a nationwide program focused on promoting social change and increasing the employment level of individuals with diverse abilities. This position is the link between employers, community employment agencies, autism organizations, member ACLs, government and community. Building relationships within relevant stakeholders is a critical role of the position in achieving the overall outcome of the initiative, which is to create meaningful and equal opportunity for employment for people with ASD. While the scope of the position will be focused on select communities, the Regional Autism Manager position is required to work across Vancouver and Prince George within British Columbia.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Lead the Ready, Willing and Able project within the policies and procedures of the governing organization.
- Work with diverse group of delivery partners and organizations.
- Support outreach and partnership development with and between employers and employment support agencies within the geographical scope of the designated regions.
- Conduct outreach and follow up with employers and employer organizations. This includes the organization and delivery of two employer awareness forums annually.
- Develop and manage partnerships with community agencies for delivery of employment supports to meet employer demand; and facilitate employment placements to meet employer demand, as applicable.
- Collaborate with local community employment and disability support providers to maximize positive employment outcomes for working age people with developmental disabilities, ASD and employers.
- Provide current and accurate information on ASD in the workplace for employer presentations and marketing collateral for employer groups to promote the employment of people with diverse abilities.
- Engage in relevant discussions regarding policy development and partnership opportunities with provincial government departments and policy makers, if applicable.
- Develop and manage relationships with employers, agencies, and various community partners to further enhance and develop the outcomes of the RWA initiative.
- Provide project management, administration and budget monitoring as related to the project implementation, within the scope of the position.
- Represent the RWA initiative at a variety of tables where employers, stakeholders and community leaders meet to lead innovative approaches to how people with developmental disabilities and ASD can access meaningful employment.
- Liaise and maintain working relationship with the ACL Labour Market Facilitators in the designated geographical region of the project.
- Ensure accurate collection of data relating to the project outcomes is recorded, analysed and reported within the framework and timelines of the initiative.
- Delivery and reporting of client and employer satisfaction surveys, as required.
- Other duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by Director of Adult Programs.

Position Qualifications:

- Committed to the full inclusion of people with ASDs including the right to meaningful employment and economic participation in the community;
- Project development, management and evaluation experience while working with diverse groups or individuals;
- Ability to manage and mentor change;
- Ability to work within diverse teams collaboratively;
- Strong business acumen and communication skills;
- Understanding of HR best practices, policies and labour law;
- Ideally experienced in employment development with an understanding of the issues and barriers facing people with ASDs in accessing meaningful employment in the community;
- Ideally experienced in working with individuals with ASDs in both program development and implementation capacities;

- Ideally knowledge and experience working within the IT and innovation sector; 
- Strong outreach, organizational and team work skills;
- Knowledge of social media applications and their utilization in public information/education campaigns;
- Superior oral and written communication skills, excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficiency in MS Office applications;
- Possesses a valid driver’s license and unlimited access to a reliable vehicle.
