Position Status: Full Time, Hourly
Salary: $18-20/hour plus Comprehensive Benefits Package

The YMCA of Cape Breton is looking for a driven leader to join our team as Centre Manager of our Port Hawkesbury location.

The Opportunity
As Centre Manager you are considered an integral component in expanding and maintaining the YMCA’s reach in the Port Hawkesbury community and surrounding areas as a top provider of health, wellness, youth development programming. Through leading and collaborating with the Centre staff you will be driving our membership growth/retention strategy forwards with the eye towards ensuring a well-rounded, meaningful, inclusive member experience for youth, individuals, and families.


Specifically you will,
• Provide leadership and oversight of all Centre operational and program areas
• Work to expand the YMCA’s reach in the community and champion the spirit of philanthropy in the Region
• Ensure consistent delivery of quality individual, youth, and family programming including Group Fitness, Before/After School, summer day camp and wellness programming
• Ensure accessibility of our programming regardless of circumstance
• Provide front-line support to members and direct delivery of Group Fitness classes

• Establish collaborative, service-oriented partnerships with the community, external agencies, and organizations.
• Complete Association program reporting and financial activities to support efficient operations that comply with YMCA and provincial requirements

You Bring
• Degree/Diploma in Business Administration, Human Services, or related field
• 2 years in Member Relations or General Management or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Previous YMCA experience an asset
• Proven track record of success in community oriented program delivery
• Proven track record of building high performance teams
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to build relationships and establish rapport
• Experience in Fundraising or non-profit sector is an asset
• Demonstrated ability to meet multiple, competing deadlines
• Strong attention to detail
• Advanced computer skills and ability to adapt to new software
• Flexibility to work irregular hours required
• Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and proof of valid First Aid and CPR training. Employees will be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training.
