North Shore ConneXions Society has been supporting families, children and adults living with intellectual disabilities in North Vancouver since 1956.


Our dynamic work team work at providing quality programs and services which support the development, independence and empowerment of adults, children and families; work in partnership with adults, children, families, Society members and members of the community; and advocate for and develop a full range of community-based services to meet the unique needs of each person and family.


ConneXions offers services in Residential, Vocational Day Programs, Employment, Recreation and Education Programs, Home Sharing, Life Skills and Respite Services.


We are currently recruiting for the position of Casual on Call Vocational Trainer to work within one of ConneXions Vocational Day Programs. This position requires applicants to have direct experience working within Day Programs creating and implementing workshops and training sessions for participants over 50.


Required casual availability:


Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm.


All applicants to the Society must have: 
- A Class 5 BC Driver's Licence
- Certification in either Emergency or Standard First Aid with CPR/AED training

- Tuberculosis screening and a medical approval to work

- Criminal Record Check clearance through the Ministry of Justice


Duties & Responsibilities: 
- Develop and/or implement programs that teach new skills in areas of memory, literacy, physical exercise and life skills 
- Deliver programs effectively using a variety of teaching methods that best meet a vast range of learning styles 
- Provide personal care 
- Work as a positive role model 
- Support meaningful inclusion and active participation of individuals within the community 
- General administration and record keeping


Additional Skills: 
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
- Must have group facilitation experience 
- Experience in program planning 
- Knowledge of theory, principles and practices in the field 
- Proven ability to function efficiently under pressure and manage multiple demands 
- Experience/formal training in augmentative communication - Sign Language an asset 
- Experience working with aging populations 
- Key Worker experience
