We are currently seeking a professional, self-motivated candidate for the position of Officer, Community Fundraising – Victoria and Wild ARC.  With fundraising and event expertise, this position will lead branch fundraising events for the Victoria BC SPCA branch and Wild ARC (the BC SPCA’s Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre), including the Victoria BC SPCA’s signature event the Offleashed Gala. They will also steward portfolios of Champions (third party) fundraisers and major donors for these branches. They will work with the local branch managers, volunteer committees, and provincial fundraising team as appropriate on a campaign by campaign basis. This position will provide leadership in the community to raise profile and revenues with Branch level fundraising initiatives.

 

To be successful in this role you will use your outstanding organizational skills to plan, execute and grow Victoria and Wild ARC fundraising initiatives, manage budgets, planning, marketing and event logistics. You will bring professionalism, diplomacy and strong stewardship skills to working with donors, fundraisers, sponsors and volunteer events committees. Your creative flair will have an outlet in building strong connections between donors and the animals they support. The Officer should be an independent thinker who contributes to process improvements, is detail oriented, analytical, and who after receiving general instruction on new assignments can proceed with minimal supervision.

 

The BC SPCA is over 120 years young and growing stronger every year. We are a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Today we have 44 locations throughout BC and provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA provides a wide range of services and programs to help more than 45,000 animals in distress and need each year.

 

Knowledge & Qualifications / Skills Required:

  • 3-6 years of Fundraising and Event Management experience required
  • Post-secondary education, preferable with an events or marketing concentration. Experience with peer to peer, third party and major donor stewardship an asset
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office products and Raiser’s Edge
  • Superior communication, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Capacity to communicate at all levels with confidence and influence
  • Exceptional written, oral and persuasive skills
  • Ability to succeed with minimum supervision in an environment involving multiple priorities/deadlines
