Programs Coordinator and Trainer, British Columbia

Breakfast Club of Canada is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of Programs Coordinator and Trainer, British Columbia. 


Key responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Western Supervisor, the person hired for this position will be in charge of supporting schools and regional partners, building capacity in schools through in-person training sessions, developing and implementing projects to improve food security and access for communities, collaborating with corporate and non-profit partners, and building proximity across the assigned territory. The person will be responsible for schools and partners across British Columbia, with the potential territory to grow over time.

More specifically, the person hired for this position will:

  • Support and visit on a regular basis schools and regional partners in their breakfast program needs and training activities;
  • Develop, organize, and lead individual and group training sessions to build capacity and train school staff and volunteers
  • Build and maintain relationships within school communities and facilitate collaboration;
  • Report information and analyse data concerning local and regional support;
  • Coordinate new school openings; call questionnaires, needs assessments, pre-visit, equipment orders, food donations, volunteer integration, media aspect, etc.;
  • Support and execute development and fundraising initiatives for local and national campaigns;
  • Coordinate and be responsible for corporate volunteering opportunities in schools;
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure the smooth functioning of the team.


  • Undergraduate University degree in Anthropology, Social Sciences, Community Development, Education, Native Studies, or equivalent experience;
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position, involving workshop facilitation/training, community service, inter-cultural relations, working in a school environment, and/or program management;
  • High level of cultural competency and strong cultural mediation skills;
  • Experience working in the public school system is an asset;
  • Must be available to travel frequently;
  • Research and development skills as well as interest and/or experience in food system logistics;
  • Able to develop and maintain strong relationships with various groups of people;
  • Facilitation and presentation skills;
  • Proficient in English, written and spoken;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office;

Work Conditions

40 hours/week; Contract (January 8, 2017 – June 30th, 2017, with the potential for renewal)

Salary and benefits according to the Club’s policy;

Work location: Terrace, Prince George, or nearby

Frequent travel required;

Must own a vehicle and possess a valid driver's license;
