The BC Wildlife Federation (BCWF) is the largest and most influential conservation organization in BC. As a province-wide non-profit charitable association with 50,000 members and more than 100 Member Clubs, our organization represents the interests of all British Columbians whose aims are to conserve and protect BC’s fish, wildlife and habitat for present and future generations.


We are currently searching for a Programs Manager to lead the development of strategic plans to support programs offered through BCWF. This position initially will be very hands-on as you review existing programs, plan new programs, and develop the talent within your department. This position will work in collaboration with the Wetlands Education Program Manager, and will provide assistance, as needed, to the Director of Corporate Operations in order to implement successful projects and practices within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:


  • Lead, build and strengthen the internal team, creating a positive and supportive work
  • Coach direct reports with basic practices directives and be a sounding board when
  • Identify, recommend, and pursue opportunities to enhance programs or develop new programs that support BC Wildlife Federation’s strategic

Program Management

  • Oversee, implement and develop the annual Programs plan, for all existing or new programs, including budgeting and program review (with the exception of the Wetlands Programs).
  • Keep master calendar of scheduled activities and program-related events, and initiate project management plans for
  • Research, review and summarize reports and documents, preparing overviews, backgrounders and


  • Coordinate with the communications department for special programs-related communications
  • Provide information to communications department in order to publish success stories in relevant journals, magazines, newsletters and online
  • Publish reports or articles on each project and make reports available on website for members, funders or relevant
  • Communicate to BCWF members and clubs and identify partnership opportunities to strengthen linkages with program and

Financial Management

  • Coordinate grant  and  fundraising  activities  with  assistance  of  BCWF  Development
  • Coordinate financial tracking with assistance from BCWF finance
  • Obtain approval for purchases from the Director of corporate Operations, as per BCWF
  • Prepare annual budgets in early Fall for approval by


  • Proven and effective leadership experience working within a non-profit programs driven
  • 5 + years developing and overseeing programs within a nonprofit organization, including financial management, monitoring success and adjusting direction when
  • Implementing technology to meet growing demand of streamlining administration and communicating to
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and a solid understanding of governance
  • Well-honed financial, human resources, and program management
