Reporting to the Community Coordinator, the Sr. Program Leader fulfills all tasks of a Program Leader with the additional responsibilities of assisting the Community Coordinator with some supervision and administrative tasks as directed by the Community Coordinator. Together with the program team and volunteers, they will ensure that the Community Club is offering programs, supports and opportunities that are reflective of the individual and community needs and are effectively integrated with other BGCC programs and are consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of BGCC. This position has varying hours during the week including evenings and weekends.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Ensure for the safety and well-being of all children, youth and families in the program, including group and/or individual behavior management and support
  • Plan and implement creative, purposeful, and age-appropriate activities based on assigned program areas with a focus on developmental assets, self esteem, and social skills
  • Assist with recruitment and marketing of programs in the community, schools, and at events
  • Encourage children/youth to try new things on their own, and support them to initiate, plan and follow through on their activities
  • Ensures the children and youth have nutritious meals and snacks by creating the monthly snack menus
  • Seek out partnerships and collaborative opportunities that will benefit the youth and families
  • Maintains and develops professional relationships with external agencies/groups such as community associations, schools, law enforcement and social service agencies
  • Monitors and signs off on the facility binder and submits any problems to the Coordinator
  • Ensures that the team is completing and updating the Club materials inventory and the all staff are cleaning up after programs
  • Scheduling of volunteers and practicum students with support from the Volunteer Specialist
  • Supervision of practicum students and volunteers in consultation with the Community Coordinators, ensuring all requirements are fulfilled
  • Give advice and guidance to front-line staff regarding programming, behavior management and crisis intervention
  • A degree or diploma in Human Services or a related field, or have a minimum of 3 years experience working with children, youth and families
  • Must have experience in the supervision and support of staff and volunteers
  • Knowledge of developmental needs of children and youth
  • Class 4 Drivers license within 3 months of employment 
  • This position is physically demanding and will include heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), pushing, pulling, running, standing for extended periods of time, and other recreational level activities. This position requires that the employee have the ability to maintain a level of physical fitness and endurance to fulfill the required duties.
  • Acceptable driver’s abstract and $2 million liability insurance
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification 
  • A Criminal Check with vulnerable sector search and an Intervention Record Check
Please Note: Successful candidates will complete criminal record check and child intervention record check at the time of new hire paperwork.  A criminal record check and child intervention record check dated within 6 months of the interview date will also be accepted.
