COMMUNITY CLUBS
 
The primary goal of community clubs is youth and community engagement with a strong focus on building social emotional skills and providing opportunities for youth and their families to grow and become self-sufficient.  
 
POSITION DESCRIPTION
 
With the support and direction from their Manager, the Program Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the day to day operation of the Community Club and community partnerships under their supervision.  The Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of all aspects of the program model and for effective integration of the program within the BGCC continuum of service and community.  The Coordinator must ensure that programs and services meet the needs of members while operating within the mission, values, vision, and strategic plan of BGCC.  Specific accountabilities include the direct supervision of staff and volunteers, program management and improvement, and facility and vehicle management.   Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Ensure for the safety and well-being of all children, youth and families in the program, including group and/or individual behavior management and support
  • Recruitment and marketing of programs in the community, schools, and at events
  • Seek out partnerships and collaborative opportunities that will benefit the youth and families
  • Maintains and develops professional relationships with external agencies/groups such as community associations, schools, law enforcement and social service agencies
  • Provide regular 1:1 coaching and feedback for staff members
  • Encourage, develop, and mentor staff in their professional development, including leadership and individualistic goals
  • Monitor, support, and assist staff with programming and club maintenance
  • Ensure all staff have current certifications and training
  • Together with the Manager of Community Initiatives, support and lead the development of new and innovative ideas and implementations in our Community Clubs
  • Ensure building and grounds are in good condition
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or have a minimum of 5 years of experience working with children, youth, and families
  • Must have experience in the supervision and support of staff and volunteers
  • Must have experience in delivery of community programs and extensive knowledge of community collaboration, community resources and services
  • Strong problem solving, organizing, planning, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of developmental needs of children and youth
  • Good understanding and ability to appropriately apply behavior management skills with individuals and in group settings
  • Class 4 Drivers license within 3 months of employment 
  • Acceptable driver’s abstract and $2 million liability insurance
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification 
  • A Criminal Check with vulnerable sector search and an Intervention Record Check
Please Note: Successful candidates will complete criminal record check and child intervention record check at the time of new hire paperwork.  A criminal record check and child intervention record check dated within 6 months of the interview date will also be accepted.
