Human Services Client Coordinator

On call, auxiliary worker

Locations: New Westminster, Vancouver, and Surrey

 

EFry provides individuals referred by social assistance offices with a bridging service to the Ministry for Social Development and Poverty Reduction to enable each to receive their statutory and regulatory rights entitlement. Individuals referred to the program are otherwise unable to access government social assistance offices because of concerns about their behaviour or high level of need.

 

Primary Purpose: Accepts referrals from the Ministry of Social Development and, in turn, interviews, assesses and makes suitable recommendations to the client to assist him or her to reduce the level of material deprivation in their lives. As necessary transfer documents and information between the individual and the social assistance officer or assigned government worker.

 

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

To act as a bridge for the conduit of information and documents between individuals in receipt of Government of BC Income Assistance and administer office for the benefits. To provide clients with case management support to address and reduce the level of material deprivation in their lives through community linkage and support. To assist clients to develop strategies and skills to self-regulate behaviours which saw them referred for Third Party Administration so their file may be returned to government administration.

 

Education and Experience:

  • 4 year university degree in social sciences or social work, or a combination of post-secondary education with years of experience.
  • One year previous experience working with marginalized individuals.
  • WCB Level One First Aid

Skills and Abilities:

  • excellent interpersonal behaviour and communication skills
  • the ability to manage client with emotional volatility and provide them with support to de-escalate loud or posturing behaviours
  • organizational and time management skills
  • working knowledge of community based programs
  • knowledge of Ministry of Social Development
  • Preference for individuals holding a valid driver’s license
