The Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society (GVFB) was set up as temporary relief to the hunger crisis in 1982 and has grown significantly in the last three decades. Today the GVFB provides assistance to over 27000 people weekly. 22% of the GVFB members are children, 22% are seniors. The needs of the community are met through multiple distribution locations, community kitchens, training workshops and partnerships with more than 80 community agencies located in Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and North Vancouver.

 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and serving as a member of the Executive Team, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) will expertly guide strategy development, implementation and evaluation of all development programs and department activities including major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, corporate and foundation donations, grant solicitation, communications and social media, event management, donor recognition and stewardship for the GVFB. The CDO will be hands-on in developing and nurturing donor relationships, as well as relationships with board members, volunteers and an array of interested stakeholders, in support of the organizations vision, mission, values, brand and food philosophy.

 

The ideal candidate is a dynamic and creative professional fundraiser and communicator, with a passion for cultivating and developing meaningful relationships. Accustomed to working with a team and communicating with a Board of Directors, you have a solid record of achieving ambitious fundraising targets for a regional or national organization. Thoughtful and innovative, the Chief Development Officer is thoroughly committed to and passionate about food justice and food security.
