Job Summary

 

Reporting to the Site Coordinator, Instructors support clients to acquire skills and competencies in one, or more, of the following areas: personal life, leisure, and employment. Instructors utilize “tell-show-do” methodology and positive reinforcement in teaching clients. Instructors are responsible for planning and developing curriculums; classroom instruction, workshop facilitation and evaluating client progress. Instructors participate in activities that recognize client accomplishments.    

 

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Two-year college diploma in the applicable field of Instruction or Social Services;
  • Job Club Certification;
  • Two years recent experience in group instruction of pre-employment and employability skills course;
  • Or equivalent combination of qualifications, skills, and experience;
  • Valid B.C. driver’s license and, where applicable, use of a personal vehicle during working hours;
  • Where required standard First Aid, CPR, and World Host certification.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage a varied client load, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a flexible environment and to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of educational methodologies and instructional techniques.
  • Ability to follow instructions and to work independently.

Hours of Work:                      Up to 36 hours per week
