Addictions, Overnight Graveyards Worker

Full time, and on-call Auxiliary

Location: Surrey, Abbotsford, Chilliwack

 

EFry operates a continuum of addictions care that includes: detox, structured support and stabilization recovery, to intensive treatment. Our programs are located in the Fraser Valley in Surrey, Abbotsford and Chilliwack and staffed on an awake around the clock basis. We are the largest provider of women’s addictions beds for Fraser Health in the region. Our services are designed for women who are abstinence seeking and delivered through a compassion based approach that recognizes addictions is a chronic recurring problem the lives of most clients. We seek to work with others who share our values.

 

 

 

Primary Purpose:

You will provide a warm safe supportive environment for women to enable them to settle themselves.  As needed you will intervene to maintain a positive group living environment. You will be responsible to record your activities, interactions with program participants and as part of a cooperative team model carry heavier duties related to the program’s cleanliness. The majority of shifts are double staffed.

 

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

Your primary responsibility is to establish a working rapport with the women and ensure their safety and wellbeing. During the late hours you will conduct room checks to ensure their wellbeing. As part of a cooperative work environment you will carry responsibility for housekeeping tasks and ensuring the morning routines with the residents. You are responsible for the overall manage and functioning of the program while on duty within the established guidelines and policies of EFry.

You are strongly encouraged to attend a staff meeting monthly during day light hours to offer your insights into night routines and participate in case planning.

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma in the field of Social Services, or equivalent education combined with With experience graveyard staff may qualify for day line positions that require a degree.
  • At least six months previous work experience in a residential environment.
  • WCB Level One First Aid, Food Safe Certificate
  • Knowledge of addictions issues.

 

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of harm reduction and abstinence seeking with compassion philosophies
  • Ability to work independently and to know when to seek on call support as needed.
