Responsibilities:

 

Provide front desk services:

  • Greeting and attending to clients who come in to program appointments
  • Answering phone enquiries relating to programs and services
  • Directing calls to program and administrative staff
  • Screening client’s eligibility for in-house Emergency Basic Need Support according to Ministry’s policies and procedures
  • Booking appointments for Caseworkers/ Updating appointment schedule for Caseworkers
  • Issuing Thrift Store Clothing Vouchers to walk-in clients
  • Making referrals to other community resources

 

Attend to related tasks:

  • Unlocking and locking front door at designated time
  • Monitoring food and supply distribution in lobby
  • Maintaining waiting room/lobby area in clean and orderly fashion, e.g. if needed, reminding clients to use child-appropriate languages
  • Advising designated staff members when receiving cash/cheque at front desk
  • Receiving faxes and incoming mails, posting outgoing mails
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Social Services training or a combination of appropriate level education and experience
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Able to cooperate with staff and volunteers and be part of an effective team
  • Able to communicate assertively with understanding and sensitivity
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Good public appearance, both in grooming and demeanor
  • Food Safe Certificate an asset or willingness to obtain one
  • Current Certification in First Aid/CPR an asset or willingness to obtain one
  • Willing to subscribe fully to The Salvation Army mission, values, policies and procedures
  • Criminal Record Check clearance

 

Minimum Prior Related Experience:

Up to six (6) months of prior related experience, including, experience working with multi-barriered persons.

 

EMPLOYMENT TERM:

  • Permanent Full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
