The goal of this post


MACL is currently looking to hire two Residential Supervisor to oversee and manage our staffed residential group homes.


This position oversees the day-to-day operations of Residential Programs, provides ongoing supervision of staff, ensuring compliance with MACL Policy and Procedure, Collective Agreement, CLBC, CARF and Licensing Acts, Regulations, and Work Safe BC Regulations. The Residential Supervisor also provides ongoing supervision and evaluation of all staff personnel and program policies.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepares, develops, implements, maintains and evaluates an Individual Service Plan for each resident including:

Participates in supporting each resident in activities of daily living, maintaining a practical understanding of individual support needs, preferences and routines. Ensures each resident’s personal, medical, physical, training and adaptive equipment needs are met.


Establishes and maintains professional conduct and positive relations with all members of residents’ circles of support, ensures regular and effective communication. Identifies resident issues requiring circle of support meetings, schedules and facilitates circle of support meetings as required.


Encourages and facilitates the participation of resident’s program activities, MISSION ASSOCIATION FOR COMMUNITY LIVING activities, and Community activities and events.


Ensures all contractual and regulatory requirements and procedures are met including those set by;

  • CLBC
  • Ministry of Health,
  • BCGEU,
  • WCB,
  • Government

Schedules and supervises residential staff and monitors daily residential operations. Interviews and selects staff in collaboration with the Program Director. Ensures each residential staff has a personality and temperament that respects the dignity and maintains the individuality of the residents and is qualified and competent to carry out assigned duties. Maintain staff files, forwarding information for central filing.


Provides leadership and direction to each staff

Fosters positive working relationship between staff, other programs, and Management


Prepares, develops, implements, maintains and evaluates guidelines specific to the residential program including;

  • an orientation manual;
  • shift duties;
  • activity plans;
  • medication administration guidelines;
  • emergency preparedness (fire, earthquake, power outage, flood, break-in)

Is responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, safety and repair of the residence, appliances, furniture, equipment and van.


Ensures that the residence functions within the operating budget for the year. Ensures government and resident monies and benefits are being disbursed and utilized in accordance with the residents needs and Association regulations and Policy & Procedure. Submits payroll, receipts, invoices and bills. Maintain and monitor all program and resident accounts. Maintain program and resident inventories of belongings.



Education, Training and Experience

  • Diploma in a related human/social service field a minimum of 3 years’ experience including 1 year in supervisory and administrative experience, preferably in a similar residence setting or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective and ethical relationships with persons served, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders
  • Proven ability to build and sustain trust through integrity, concern for others, consistent behavior, follow through on commitments & open communication
  • Demonstrated ability listen, understand & respond effectively to other people from diverse backgrounds; includes a deep & complex understanding of others
  • Proven ability to develop people using mentoring, performance evaluation, feedback and coaching.
  • The ability and willingness to adapt to constant changing demands in work schedule and duties
  • Proven ability to analyze problems systematically, organize information, identify key factors, identify underlying causes and generate solutions
  • Demonstrated awareness of, and preference for, respect for MACL.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including presentation skills
  • Warm personal nature
  • Good mental and physical health
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word
  • Experience developing and implementing Individual Service Plans
  • Clear Criminal Record Check, valid Food Safe Certificate, Basic First Aid Certificate as approved by Community Care Licensing, Physician’s Report and tuberculosis skin test, current Driver’s Abstract, valid BC Unrestricted Class 4 Driver’s License, PIC License
  • Use of own safe car with adequate auto insurance to cover the business purpose for which it is used (reimbursement may be available).
