Our Penticton Veterinary Hospital is currently looking for an Associate Veterinarian to join their team. You will deliver the highest level of veterinary care to every pet in a professional and ethical manner while ensuring that the client and their pet have an exceptional experience. You will establish trust and gain the confidence and compliance of clients through effectively delivering appropriate preventive care, performing complete diagnostic workups, developing thorough treatment plans, communicating home care instructions, and planning follow‐up.


You have prior experience with Cornerstone veterinary software as we are a fully digital practice, maintaining the software as well as troubleshooting will be part of your day-to-day requirements. We use low stress handling techniques and are working towards Fear Free Accreditation.


You are confident in routine surgery and client communication. You are very personable and work well efficiently in a team. You have knowledge in basic dentistry and have excellent medical records keeping skills. Regular weekend hours are required, but no on-call or overnight shifts will be required. We offer a competitive salary, CE allowance and health/medical benefits. Mentorship opportunity exists for the right new graduate.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities to succeed in this position:
  • Valid and in good standing licensed veterinarian within the provincial of BC
  • Knowledge of principles, theories and practices of veterinary medicine and science.
  • Knowledge of the procedures used for receiving, treating, and scheduling patients, for ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including provincial veterinary regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, medical texts.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondences.
  • Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment including sterilization techniques for various instruments and materials.
  • Biology – Knowledge of plant and animal organisms, their tissues, cells, functions, interdependencies, and interactions with each other and the environment.
  • Medicine and Dentistry — Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
  • Chemistry — Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
  • Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Excellent command of Cornerstone Veterinary software a must
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, respect of confidentiality
  • The ideal candidate will also possess basic bookkeeping skills, excellent computer ability including spreadsheet preparation and production analysis.
  • Motivated and confident, with great verbal and presentation skills
  • attention to detail and the flexibility to work with changing priorities under pressure
  • must possess strong organizational and time management skills, independent judgment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment independently or in a team
  • Analytical and a creative problem solver
  • Resourceful and has ability to develop relationships with others
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours when required
