Our participants are often vulnerable or marginalized from society. PCRS is committed to integrated service delivery which is people-centred, inclusive, collaborative, and evidence-based. PCRS has an annual operating budget of approximately 24 million; employs nearly 350 staff; and engages over 200 volunteers.

Position Summary:

Pacific Community Resources Society requires an experienced Youth Addictions Outreach Worker for the First Response Youth Addictions Outreach Program in Surrey. The youth addictions outreach workers team will provide outreach services to youth struggling with addiction. This includes being a visible presence in the community 7 days per week and, connecting youth to services such as; programming, treatment centres, cultural supports, medical facilities, detox, youth addiction programs and follow up services.  Staff will provide naloxone training and promote ways to increase health and safety including connecting longer term supports back into the youth’s life, namely family, community, and employment.

Academic and Job Experience Required:

Childcare diploma plus 2 years’ experience; or B.A. in a related field and 1 year related experience; or a combination of related work experience and education.

Experience in working with youth and addiction is necessary.

Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal records check including the vulnerable sector
  • Valid BC driver’s license with business insurance use
  • Use of own vehicle (mileage is paid)
  • Driver’s abstract must be submitted

  • Familiarity with Transtheoretical Model of change
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Solution Focused Counselling
  • Addictions Counselling Training
  • Mental Health Training
  • Sexual Abuse Training
  • Depression/Suicide/Co-occurring Disorder Training.
