Full-Time Youth Worker 

Location: Didsbury, AB- Grimmon House

Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is a leading provider of quality programs to children and youth, with a $20 million dollar operating budget, that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development for 20,000 young people and their families each year.


Grimmon House is a voluntary, residential recovery program for female youth between the ages of 13- 17 that are at risk of or involved in sexual exploitation and/or addiction. The Grimmon House program model is based on a holistic model of intervention founded on empirically supported approaches and interventions including the three pillars of trauma-informed care, the circle of courage model, and the stages of change.


As a Youth Worker with Grimmon House, a typical day might include:

  • Case management responsibilities include ensuring that the youth’s basic needs have been met with a focus on fostering personal growth and development. This includes arranging all necessary medical and professional appointments including case conferences
  • Assist the youth in exploring and registering for arts and recreational programming or other identified supports within their community.  Supports can include individual/ group counseling, in home support, drug and alcohol programming, anger management and life skills
  • Implement routines and activities to provide a safe and secure milieu which fosters family reunification and development opportunities
  • Assist youth in developing and practicing problem solving, conflict resolution and communication skills
  • Support youth in reducing barriers to employment and education.  Will also help youth maintain or improve their grade level
  • Act as a liaison between the Authority, youth’s families, school representatives, doctors and other professionals identified

You Have:

  • A degree or diploma in Human Services field (Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Justice Studies, etc) or currently enrolled, or have experience working with at-risk youth
  • A minimum of 2 years of direct experience working with at-risk youth
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification
  • Class 5 driver’s licence with acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Child Welfare Intervention Check
