The Team Lead fulfills all tasks of a Youth Care Worker with the additional responsibilities of assisting the Program Coordinator with some administrative tasks and coaching staff as directed by the Program Coordinator.  The Team Lead will ensure that the program and services provided are relevant to the needs of the residents and that all residential components are effectively integrated with other BGCCS programs and are consistent with the mission, values, vision and Strategic plan of agency.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Takes an active role in the training of new team members, including volunteers and practicum students, and provides input on performance of part time and relief staff to the Coordinator.
  • Attends all staff meetings and training seminars as directed by Coordinator.
  • Creates and maintains a positive, supportive and rewarding work environment.
  • Works effectively with other members of the team to meet the individual needs of all children/youth in the program.
  • Recognizes the importance of family in each youth’s life and therefore ensures the inclusion of appropriate family members in case planning.
  • Supports Case Managers with completion of all assessment reports, life skills curriculum and outcome measures for each key youth. Books and chairs case conferences.
  • Ensures celebrations are organized for clients including birthdays, religious holidays, graduation, etc.
  • Completes weekly 1-1 time with each youth as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to agency policies, procedures and CARF  standards
  • Ensure opportunities for clients to provide feedback on the programs and services
  • Responsible for monitoring of clothing allowance, allowance, recreation and gift monies for key clients.
  • Submits all financial paperwork by cut-off dates and times to Program Coordinator.
  • Co-facilitate staff meetings
  • Coaching of part-time staff members in consultation with the Coordinator, ensuring all probationary requirements are fulfilled.
  • A degree or diploma in Human Services field (Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Justice Studies, etc) or currently enrolled, or have experience working with at-risk youth
  • A minimum of 2 years of direct experience working with at-risk youth
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification 
  • Class 5 driver’s licence with acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Child Welfare Intervention Check
