Job Summary: PICS Child Care Facility is a newly established childcare centre located in the heart of Cloverdale, on the premises of the City of Surrey’s Shannon Hall of Cloverdale Rodeo & Exhibition Grounds. Dedicated to providing quality childcare, interactive learning and memorable experiences, we are looking for a highly motivated Child Care Assistant to inspire and be part of a great team, assisting with looking after the Group Child Care (30 months-to-School Age children). It is long-term employment opportunity for eligible applicants.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping duties
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
  • Support early childhood educators in carrying out activities that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
  • Observe and record children's growth
  • Prepare play and learning materials
  • Supervise children's play, ensuring their physical safety at all times
  • Help children with daily routines such as toileting, dressing, eating and sleeping
  • Guide children's behavior and social development
  • Prepare light snacks if needed
  • Maintain a safe, clean and appealing learning environment

Basic job requirements:

  • An approved Early Childhood Assistant Education qualification (ECE level 1)
  • Experience working in a childcare setting
  • Fantastic organizational and teamwork skills
  • Reasonable written and verbal communication skills
  • A reasonable level of computer literacy (MS office suite)
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Working With Children Check
  • Clean medical certificate
  • A good understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework
