To expand and diversify funding sources in support of WBFs growth through the management, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of potential Donors-corporate, foundations and individuals.  This role will be key in developing, communicating and implementing WBF’s future fund development strategy.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

  • Collaboratively develop strategic policies and processes to guide the organization in achieving its vision; champion the development and documentation of key business processes within the Partnership & Funding area.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of overall WBF business plans, budgets, supporting objectives and metrics.
  • In collaboration with the Director Stakeholder Relations, build a long-term Partnership & Funding strategy and implementation plan for diversification and expansion that contributes to WBF’s growth and self-sustainability in Alberta and then across Canada.
  • Research and implement process improvements and best practices in fund development that will support the goals of the organization.
  • Work closely with the Strategic Communications team and Director Stakeholder Relations in developing creative strategies intended to attract increased fund development
  • In collaboration with the Director Stakeholder Relations and Proposal Coordinator, support the CRM development and ongoing relationship management for all partners and funders ensuring current tracking of contacts, programs, partnerships and all grant-related commitments.
  • Monitor and regularly report on partnership and funding relationships, contracts, address emerging issues and working closely with the Finance Manager to accurately track fund reporting

Partnerships & Funding

  • Develop, steward and nurture an expanding network of quality senior relationships with corporate, philanthropic groups as well as individual donors.
  • Maintains an active portfolio of prospects and conducts face to face visits to renew and upgrade support, and to identify new prospects
  • Act as key WBF ambassador positioning the organization as a credible partner and source of capable skilled labour
  • Oversee and perform research into industry partnership prospects and grant-making organizations; synthesize data, report to and collaborate with the leadership team to select strategically aligned sustainable partnerships
  • Collaborate on government and foundation grant writing with the leadership team, senior writer and proposal coordinator as appropriate
  • Collaborating cross functionally with the Director Stakeholder Engagement, Manager Industry Relations, Senior Indigenous Relations Strategist and others to champion the development of new revenue channels through sponsorship, alumni relations and individual donors
  • Collaborate with Strategic Communications team to develop a communications plan to  support and ensure the integration of the WBF story to help foster new relationships and profile

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • 10+ years related experience (business development, fund development, partnerships & sponsorship)
  • Experienced operating in culturally diverse populations
  • Experienced in strategic and business planning with an ability to consistently execute with quality
  • Experience with grant and proposal writing (both public and private funders)
  • Track record of delivering on budgets
  • Experience in or an understanding of the not for profit sector
  • Post-Secondary education in Business, Commerce or Marketing
  • Fund development courses an asset
  • Evidence of ongoing learning – negotiation, partnerships, planning, revenue development, communication etc.
