YMCA Community Programs – Hardin Street has the following Full – time position working 37.5 hrs per week:

 

Bilingual (English / French) - Employment Link Program Coordinator    

 

The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a dynamic individual that will provide effective leadership in directing the overall delivery of programs and services in the assigned area. Key elements of this position include the supervision and direction of staff, development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of programming and providing high quality services to all program participants.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead in the development, implementation and evaluation of bilingual career and employment services
  • Coordinate program operations within the YMCA guidelines and adhere to contracted performance outcomes, all within the proposed budget
  • Identify, recommend and implement approved quality improvements to the program, program systems and service delivery strategies
  • With the support of the Senior Director, recruit, train, coach, supervise and manage all full time and part-time staff, volunteers and students within program areas
  • Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) and/or provide cover off for senior leaders when required
  • Mentor and support staff in the provision of employment services when needed
  • Develop training materials to assist in the professional development of new and existing staff
  • Establish and maintain accurate and current participant and program records, expense and revenue records, comprehensive statistical information, outcome tracking and other relevant supporting documentation
  • Ensure completion of administrative tasks such as monthly invoice preparation and narrative report (monthly, yearly and final report), conducted client follow up calls and recorded results
  • Deliver one-on-one employment services to eligible clients and complete client registration using Mobius
  • Plan, develop and deliver workshops and presentations on employment related topics Strictly follow Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FOIP) guidelines as well as the YMCA privacy policy to safeguard clients’ personal information
  • Actively participate in the development of program proposals and budgets
  • Monitor designated program budget line items and report line variance monthly
  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of program budgets for yearly approval
  • Conduct research and outreach to employers to build stronger relations and provide accurate information to job seekers
  • Network with key program stakeholders, community agencies, government representatives, education and business stakeholders to identify needs, receive and provide referrals, coordinate program solutions and opportunities
  • Actively participate in community and newcomer interagency network meetings as well as other community events and job fairs
  • Seek opportunities to partner and collaborate with government and/or other agencies in the organization of job fairs and other employment related events or programs
  • Models appropriate behavior to staff in line with the YMCA Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Perform duties and tasks that contribute to a clean, secure and safe environment in accordance with Serving Annual Members (SAM) standards and health and safety standards
  • Contribute to the YMCA of Alberta’s goals and support related activities
  • Any additional project work as assigned or required

 

Qualifications:           

 

Education / Certifications/ Credentials / Professional Registration

  • University Degree in Human Services or relevant Field
  • Bilingual English / French
  • Standard First Aid and CPR/AED
  • Police Security Clearance with vulnerable sector search
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
  • WHMIS certification

Experience

  • At least three (3) years of experience delivering career and employment services
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Three (3) years of direct professional experience in a team environment
  • Experience in coaching and supervision
  • Experience and knowledge of cultural and minority groups, high need populations and other marginalized persons
  • University Degree in Human Services or Education Field or Equivalent

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and team skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Alberta Human Services policies and legislation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and Windows
  • Effective case management skills
  • Knowledgeable in proposal writing and budget planning and monitoring
  • Working knowledge of group facilitation, program planning, outcome evaluation, program promotion, marketing and public relations
  • Knowledge of related community, education and human services resources
  • Sensitive to and demonstrated knowledge of dealing with the needs of participants from different cultural and racial backgrounds
  • General knowledge of programs and services offered by government agencies and their accessibility to immigrants and French Speaking Canadians
