Services and Housing In the Province (SHIP) is a Housing and Health Service Provider for specialized populations with numerous programs and partnerships. SHIP’s mission is to increase quality of life through health services and housing supports that promote mental and physical health and wellness.  It is our collective belief that provision of services must be delivered with a sense of compassion and clients must be provided with the opportunity to pursue independence and to actively contribute to and participate in the community in which they live. Services and Housing In the Province (SHIP) is seeking a Permanent Part Time Team Lead for the Short Stay Crisis Support Program (SSCSP).  The SSCSP provides short term residential crisis support services to individuals with serious mental illness who experience a mental health crisis and have the potential to or have already come into contact with the criminal justice system.  


We are seeking dedicated, energetic and enthusiastic individual to fill the position on a Part-Time basis working (10 Hours) each day on Saturday, Sunday and may be required to work on Statutory Holidays as well.



Team Lead - SSCSP

(Non-Bargaining Unit Position)


Reports To:  Program Manager


  • Provides management, direction and support to direct service staff
  • Works to further the mission of the organization and the vision of the department
  • Is the key person for weekend support and is responsible for providing direction to staff as required.
  • Participates in supervisions and may participate in disciplinary process for personnel in a unionized setting, if required.
  • Ensures adherence to policies, procedures and the collective agreement.
  • Assists in scheduling staff, resource allocation ensuring client/staff safety, security and adherence to MOHLTC standards.
  • Assists the Program Manager in program planning, monitoring of achievements of service targets, annual work plan and provides ongoing evaluation of system to ensure consistent, client focused quality services.
  • Ensures appropriate records are maintained and makes sure that statistical information is maintained as per agency standards.
  • Works collaboratively with partnering agencies and assumes other supervisory duties as required.
  • Rotates between both locations (Mississauga and Brampton)
  • Works 10 hour shifts each day Saturday and Sunday; is flexible to work one weekday occasionally in lieu of Saturday or Sunday to meet with the Program Manager
  • Assists with quality improvement efforts and ongoing clients safety initiatives


  • Degree or Diploma in Allied Health Profession.
  • Two years of previous Management experience is required, however a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Demonstrated abilities in successful human resources management, including multi-task leadership to develop and manage program team members.
  • Should be flexible, reliable, mature, compassionate, and able to develop and evaluate programs.
  • Excellent communication skills and an appreciation for diversity and psychosocial rehabilitation; can effectively work independently as well as in teams; possess good judgment and problem solving skills; committed to professional development and able to effectively network in the community.
  • Current knowledge of forensic mental health, crisis intervention, assessment and de-escalation strategies.
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience working with the seriously mentally ill population in crisis
  •  Possesses the personal qualities and attitudes that respect and maintain the dignity and individuality of the residents and their families.
  • Understands and is able to integrate a philosophy of client-centred care into daily responsibilities
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality care and service delivery based on SHIP’s Mission and Values
  • Demonstrates cultural competence and the ability to support a diverse client population are essential.
  • A valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and a vehicle with adequate insurance coverage are required.
  • Available to work weekdays, weekends, evenings.
