ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director, Donor Relations, you will be responsible for contributing to the planning and execution of a variety of industry-leading donor stewardship and recognition activities that support our Miracle Weekend (MW), Corporate and Community giving programs. This includes physical recognition, digital and traditional donor communication and stewardship events.

 

As the Donor Relations Officer, you will both lead and support the development and operationalization of highly customized donor stewardship and recognition plans to enhance donor retention, engagement and growth. This will include: oversight for all MW recognition and stewardship activity; developing customized impact reports; events and donor engagement plans; managing priority bring-forward systems; supporting the production of gift agreements; writing personalized donor correspondence and communication pieces; and creating unique recognition pieces.

 

More specifically, as a Donor Relations Officer, you will:

  • Manage and work in collaboration with the Donor Relations Coordinator
  • Manage stewardship and recognition needs MW, Corporate and Community donors
  • In partnership with fundraising staff and appropriate functional teams, create, manage, and operationalize comprehensive stewardship and recognition plans that support fundraising goals and objectives
  • Provide oversight to the development of customized and standardized donor impact reports and related strategies – including development of content outlines, editing and proofing copy and design; and participating in donor meetings and presentations as appropriate
  • Provide oversight to the management of a proactive award nomination program
  • Working collaboratively with the events team, lead the development of donor event and tour strategies and support the execution of recognition events for individual and targeted groups of donors
  • Develop and work collaboratively with marketing and communications to operationalize social media content, ad production and placement, and digital media strategies to support individual donor stewardship plans
  • Support the ongoing development and scheduling of newsletter and digital media content
  • Support the planning and execution of events and special donor initiatives
  • Participate on functional teams, as required, to help inform donor relations strategies

ABOUT YOU

You are an exceptional project manager and possess sound knowledge of donor relations best practices. You also have a solid understanding of fundraising principles, donor cycle strategies, and marketing and communications. This knowledge is complemented by your proven ability to build authentic and professional relationships with colleagues and donors. You are a leader with strong writing and presentation skills. You are also a strategic thinker, and possess creative problem-solving skills which enable you to effectively analyze, plan, initiate and complete projects with a demand for creativity and high quality while working with limited resources. Your proven track record and ability to work as a team player through negotiating, inspiring and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment are essential to your success in this role.

 

In addition, you will have:

  • Degree or diploma in Not for Profit/Fundraising Management, Communications, Marketing, Arts, or Business Administration
  • Five years+ project management experience
  • Three years+ experience supervising staff and leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience developing unique and highly personalized recognition pieces – including gifts, donor walls and plaques/signs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Raiser’s Edge 7 or other donor/relationship management database experience is an asset
  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment is preferred
  • CFRE designation is a definite asset
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are an asset

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a full-time temporary opportunity for thirteen months to cover a maternity leave (March 2018, April 2019)
