The Program:

Interchange is a co-ed residence located in Fort St. John. The home provides a safe and structured communal living environment for Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) referred youth awaiting reunification with family, foster placement or semi-independent living. Interchange blends in with other houses located on a street in a quiet part of town close to facilities and amenities including a hospital, grocery stores, banks, churches and coffee shops. Fort St. John public transit is just steps from the home.


Emergency intakes are anticipated and prepared for. Once a youth has been referred to our home, staff work diligently to provide a relaxed and secure living experience. Support is provided in acquiring essential day to day life skills prior to transition from residential communal living to semi–independent or familial unification. The focus is on helping youth become fully functioning and a self-reliant member of the community.


The Position and Scheduling:

The Program Manager provides operational and administrative direction for the development, implementation and management of the program in this CARF-accredited agency. S/He implements and monitors policies and procedures related to day-to-day services to persons served and directs and coordinates the day-to-day management of program staff. S/He works directly with persons served and their families/care teams as required, and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating individual program plans. The Program Manager participates in agency decision making and is the primary liaison with the contracting body.


This full-time position will work 40 hours per week with a schedule of Sunday and Monday 0700-1500 and Tuesday to Thursday 1000-1800..  Schedule varies to meet the operational needs of the program and front line work will be required.  May also be required to be “on-call” during scheduled time off.


As an ideal candidate you possess:

  • A degree in one of the humanities, social sciences or related field with educational preparation for the roles of manager and administrator.
  • Minimum of three years in a similar facility or program, with at least one year in a supervisory or management role.
  • Must have specific experience with financial and human resource management.
  • Must be able to pass the Licensing screening
  • Current WCB Occupational First Aid, Level 1 and CPR certificates required.
  • Experience with basic sign language and/or alternative communication strategies training or experience an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
  • Reliable, safe vehicle with appropriate insurance
