Scheduled Hours: 0800-1600. Position may require some evening and weekend commitments based upon the needs of the clients and programs.

The Position
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Team Leader is responsible for the physical, behavioural and emotional support of the clients, operation and maintenance of the program, supervision of clients in the program and in the community, implementation of training and programming, development and monitoring of Personal Service Plans and monitoring of client specific funds. Community Service Practitioner will work alongside Program Team Leader to support Disability Service Workers and persons served in programs. The Team Leader also acts in the role of Director in that individual’s absence.

In Your Role You Will
• Participate on the assessment/treatment teams for the admission, assessment & placement of individuals referred for service
• Supervise residential staff
• Manage the day to day operation of the residences
• Assist the program manager with the coordination of case conferences
• Develop staffing schedules, and assigning staff shifts
• Approve time sheets and related payroll documents to be forwarded to the admin support/program manager
• Orient and train residential staff
• Conduct performance appraisals of residential staff (for approval by the program manager)
• Consult the Program Manager in implementing performance improvement plans and as necessary, disciplinary actions for staff
• Ensure comprehensive and accurate recording and reporting of information respecting individuals receiving service (e.g. daily logs, incidents reports)
• Participate on the behaviour review committee

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a residential service to persons with developmental disabilities AND at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity
• Preference given to candidates with behavioral management
• Diploma in Disabilities Studies, Degree in related Social Sciences, Human Services, Special Education, etc.
• Must have valid class 5 driver license with clear driving abstract and must have reliable transportation
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Crisis Prevention Intervention, Medication Administration, Abuse Protocol, Proactive Procedures and Behavioural Strategies, Foundations and Disabilities Training
• Experience writing and implementing program plans and goals is an asset
• Ability to meet the requirements of service Agreement of individual(s) in service
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Work well in an environment with potential for violence in the workplace; physical intervention skills an asset
• Work with multiple persons served, as well as, with staffing teams – with and without direct supervision
• Follow instructions, and function in a crisis; Be calm, confident, patient and motivates others and is a positive role model.
• Lift and transfer individuals in service
