General Description:

The Social Media/Marketing Coordinator will be involved in all strategic social media and digital initiatives at our centre. In this role, your skills in content creation, communication planning, and the use of current online social platforms will be employed at the community level. You will promote volunteerism, share community information, contribute to the skills development of local online community leaders, and help grow awareness of our programs and services.


Reports to: Executive Director

Type: Full-time (35 hrs/week)
Start date: Negotiable; ASAP


  • Create and share information through our website, social media, and other media relevant to our programs and services.
  • Enhance the connections between locally-based online communities, and skills development for community administrators.
  • Create and lead workshops on topics relevant to the position.
  • Help to extend the reach of community organization messages through low-or-no cost opportunities that we provide.
  • Train staff and volunteers in integration of online communications to their existing role.
  • Respond to, and proactively create opportunities for, online interactions.
  • Contribute to accountability reporting, for example, by writing narrative, and providing statistics.
  • Discover and recommend tools which increase efficiency of Social Media / Marketing tasks.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of Social Media and Marketing with emphasis on Facebook, Twitter, Google and YouTube.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite would be beneficial.
  • Detail oriented and accurate.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated strong communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and initiative.
  • Flexibility to complete tasks alone, or as part of a team.

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in marketing, public relations, or related work experience.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Community Information and Volunteer Centre and its mandates and philosophy.
  • Knowledge of St. Albert community an asset.


  • This position earns $38,000 – $42,000 /yr, commensurate with experience.
  • Employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefit package after a probationary period.
