We’re probably best known for the No Tankers campaign. Since 2007, Dogwood and our allies have prevented a massive expansion of carbon pollution and oil tanker traffic on the West Coast. Our supporters are definitely concerned about climate change and oil spills. But we don’t just work to protect the environment.

 

What we’re really looking for are tipping points: moments when enough citizen pressure can rewrite a law, reverse a bad decision or convince a politician to take a stronger position. That’s when we channel large-scale citizen action — both offline and online — to lock in change for the long term.

 

We currently have an opportunity for a talented and compassionate Human Resources and Executive Team Coordinator to join our team and play a key role in supporting a team of executives and coordinating Dogwood’s HR functions.

 

The successful candidate will have experience in human resources, be extremely detail oriented and organized, and be able to thrive in a flexible and dynamic work environment.

 

As part of our team, you’ll get to:

  • Keep Dogwood staffed up with a driven, diverse and dedicated team
  • Coordinate staff orientation, ProD, benefits, and evaluations, meticulously maintaining accurate records
  • Coordinate support for Dogwood’s Executive Team
  • Participate in the development of, and remain accountable to the Annual Plan and budget for HR
  • Coordinate our quarterly in-person meetings, and annual staff and board retreat
  • Lead Dogwood’s Morale team, and provide support to our Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion team

To be considered for this position, you need to:

  • Bring an empathic, sincere, collaborative, and respectful demeanor, holding sensitive information in confidence
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with core aspects of Human Resources
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a sense of humour

 

Any of the following would be considered strong assets:

  • HR program certification
  • Experience working within a non-profit organization
  • Experience with distributed leadership models
  • Experience providing support to senior management or an executive team
  • Experience in administration of benefits and compensation programs
  • Leadership experience including development of annual plans and budgets
